What we do, in detail

Passenger trips, hire without a crew, leisure equipment, and advisory work.

Program 01 · We take you

Passenger trips

If we carry you, the vessel has to be certified for carrying passengers and whoever is at the helm has to hold the professional qualification for the job. A pleasure licence does not cover carrying people for money, which is worth knowing because plenty of trips are sold as though it did. One number matters more than seating: carry more than twelve passengers at sea and the vessel is a passenger ship in law, under a wholly different regime.

  • Per trip
  • Vessel certified
  • Qualified at the helm
  • Refunded if we cancel

Program 02 · You are in charge

Hire without a crew

The moment you take something out without us, you are the person in charge. You need whatever licence that requires, you are responsible for the navigation rules, and your insurance position is not the one that applies to a carried passenger. We check the licence the law requires and we give you the instructions you need, but we do not assess your competence beyond that, and nobody should pretend otherwise. If you are unsure, be carried instead.

  • Per hire
  • Licence checked
  • Instructions given
  • You are responsible

Program 03 · Fit for use

Leisure equipment

Equipment goes out in a condition fit for what it is for, with the instructions needed to use it safely, sized to the person rather than to what is left in the rack. Buoyancy aids are provided where they are required and wearing one can be a condition of going out. None of this is complicated, and all of it is the difference between an afternoon and an incident report.

  • Per hire
  • Checked before issue
  • Instructions given
  • Sized properly

Program 04 · Not investment advice

Advisory work

A registered activity of the company and a different line of work from the boats. It is commercial advice on business and management questions. Despite the word invest in the company name, it is not investment advice: we are not an investment firm, we hold no authorisation from the markets authority, we manage nobody's money and nothing here is an offer or invitation to invest. It is also not legal, tax or accounting advice.

  • Per engagement
  • Commercial advice
  • Written output
  • No authorisation held
